Holy Name Retreat 2023
Holy Name Retreat Amsterdam 2023 with HH Sacinandana Swami Maharaja
Sunday 14 May 2023
Adress: Sociëteit Vereeniging, Zijlweg 1 in Haarlem
This year we are blessed with a visit of His Holiness Sacinandana Swami Maharaja. He is so kind to have made room in his busy schedule in the weekend of May 13 and 14th. It has been many years since Maharaja was in The Netherlands. His presence is connected to his visit to Amsterdam Kirtan Mela on Saturday May 13th.
What do you do when Sacinandana Swami visits?
You request him to do a Holy Name Retreat! Since many years Maharaja has hosted similar retreats all over the world. He has helped many people to develop a deeper connection to the Holy Names. This retreat consists of workshops, collective meditation sessions and kirtan. There will be room for questions and answers. And of course there will be vegetarian/vegan lunch prasadam and diner take-away.
A bigger space
We have found a suitable place in Haarlem. At the moment, the temple in Amsterdam does not offer the space we would like. Because we wish to offer as many people as possible the opportunity to take part, we’ve decided to look for a different location. Finding a suitable place ultimately brought us to Haarlem.
Who is Sacinandana Swami?
Sacinandana Swami Maharaja was born in Germany. He is a disciple of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and has been practicing bhakti yoga for about fifty years. His simplicity, humor and depth of vision make him a suitable person to learn from. You will get connected deeper in the process of devotion.
What else is important?
A retreat, even for one day, can be powerful and transforming. If you’re able to also be present at the Amsterdam Kirtan Mela the day before, this makes for a weekend full of transcendental energy. As organizers, we find in appropriate to mention there will be NO facilities for children on Sunday. This Holy Name Retreat is therefore less suitable for parents with young children.
The location is the building of the Sociëteitsvereeniging at the Zijlweg 1 in Haarlem. It is within walking distance from Central Station. Tickets cost €30 per person and are available at Eventbrite. There are 150 seats available. The event takes place from 11:00 until 18:00. Invite someone who you think can benefit from a day like this! We wish for devotees from all over the country to come for this special day. At a later moment we will post the complete program.
This program is organized by ISKCON Amsterdam. All funds are used for the cost of the event. Any extras will be used to organize the 2024 and beyond events from the Kirtan Amsterdam Movement.
